The research by rentals company, Owners Direct, found that once the holiday destination had been chosen 82% of women were then left to sort out the flights, accommodation and the booking of the hire car.

However, once they'd arrived at their destination the men would take charge of the wheels of the hire car, with almost 70% of men doing the driving on the holiday.
